What is a Brow Lift?

Brow lift is a procedure in which each brow is positioned into a natural desirable shape. This can be done by various methods both surgically and non-surgically. Surgical brow lift involves making small cuts or incisions in the hairline and one just above the brow and achieve a desirable lift and shape. Non-surgical brow lift involves fillers which can be injected in such a way to achieve brow lift. Nonsurgical methods also include Botulinum Toxin which can be injected at specific points to achieve a brow lift. Last but not the least, thread lift is the latest non-surgical technique used to create an excellent Brow lift.

How Long Does Swelling Last After Brow Lift?

Brow lift whether done surgically or non-surgically creates swelling especially around the periorbital region since skin is very thin around that area and takes up water that means oedema occurs leading to swelling. Obviously the swelling is more with surgical methods as compared to the latest nonsurgical methods. The swelling typically lasts for 7-10 days after surgery and 3-4 days after non-surgical methods.

What to Expect After Brow Lift Surgery?

After Brow lift surgery, one can see the slightly overcorrected brow look along with periorbital swelling which typically lasts for 7-10 days. The stitches are removed after 7 days of the procedure and the brow achieves its final position after 6-8 weeks of the procedure.

How is a Brow Lift Done?

How is a Brow Lift Surgery Performed?

Brow lift surgery starts with incision markings in standing position and discussing with patient the final desired position he/she desires. After marking the incisions, small amount of anaesthesia is infiltrated along the incisions and along the entire track. Then the surgery starts with the hairline incision which is deepened and an internal track is made all along till the incision just above the Eyebrow is reached. Once the tracks are dissected, a permanent suture is taken from hairline till the above Brow incision and back to the hairline again where the knots are fixed to the periosteum to give secured long standing results.

How Long Does a Brow Lift Last?

Surgical Brow lift typically lasts for 5 years or more depending on the aging process. Non-surgical Brow lift whether done through Fillers or Thread lift, results usually last for 1-1.5 years. The results of Botulinum toxin are for the least duration lasting for only 4-6 months. So it is best that the patient discusses with the doctor his expectations and whether he wants surgery or without it and accordingly take a call.

Where are the Incisions Made When Performing a Brow Lift?

Incisions are typically made for Surgical Brow Lift. Incisions typically start with planning along with the patient. Typically two incisions are made for each side ,one just above the Brow and one just inside the hairline. Once the anaesthesia numbing injection is given, the incisions are given and gently deepened. An internal track is made connecting the two incisions and then a permanent suture is taken starting from hairline and taking a full loop through the incision above the Eyebrow and then back to hairline where suture knot is fixed to the periosteum to give a more permanent result. The incisions are closed with fine sutures and tapes are applied and sutures are removed at 7-10 days typically.
